To mum and dad thank you letter

                                                                      kia ora

This is an activity we did when we were learning how to write a thank you letter.
Something I think I have done well  is thinking up good things to say but
next time I think I could improve my punctuation because my teacher had to help me find two missing fullstops.

Dear Mum and Dad

I am writing to thank you very much for letting  me last go on the ski trip last week.

I really enjoyed the whole week and skiing was amazing. My favourite part was the rock climbing.

I would really love go to the rock climbing again, one day.

The best holiday

In the holidays, I went to Auckland with my mum and my little brother, Max and we drove to Rainbow's Ends.It was so cool. I got to go on the Forfeit and it was like I was flying into the sky like a plane.

After that,  we went to go pick up my cousins and we drove to the Warehouse. I got a Lego set. It was was Lego Star Wars.

Next, we ran to the arcade and I played a war game full of planes and bombs. I came 1st.

We bought Burger King on the way home and after we had eaten I  played Bloom"s Tower Defence on my tablet then Max and I went and played outside.

Learning how to read, write and understand a one-sided argument.

WE have been learning how to write one-sided arguments so that we can use them in our speech contest. I found this activity hard but Max helped me.

Understanding how to structure and write an argument.
The first paragraph of an argument is called the THESIS.
A THESIS is something that you believe.
In a piece of argument writing, a THESIS is made up of two parts.
Part 1 is your sentence about what you believe.
This is called a POSITION STATEMENT.
In this exercise you need to match an argument title with its POSITION STATEMENT.. Use the ‘Fill tool’ to colour code the matching POSITION STATEMENTS.

The Most Delicious Drug.
I believe that no one should be able to have more than two children.
Cats Are Better Pets Than Dogs.
I believe that dairy farmers are not doing enough to prevent pollution of waterways on their land.
All Prime Ministers of New Zealand Should Be Female.
I believe that homework should be banned.
Homework Should Be Banned.
I believe that chocolate is a drug.
Two Child Families.
I believe that future Prime Ministers of NZ should all be female.
Dairy Farmers Pollute Waterways.
I believe that cats make better pets than dogs.

My Recount Plan

Kia ora This week we have been learning how to make plans for a recount so that it has an organised structure. We had to fill in notes in the right places on this form. We didn't have to use whole sentences, just the important ideas. Then we had to read the notes back to each other and they sounded almost like a whole story. Our teacher said it was like we had made a skeleton for our story.Later we get to add the muscles, guts and skin and then we will be finished!
